HONOLULU – Toyota Hawaiʻi, a subsidiary of Servco Pacific Inc., today, announced the scholarship recipients of its Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP) at Leeward Community College and Honolulu Community College.
This year’s T-TEP scholarship recipients are:
- Mike Esteban, Leeward Community College
- Rock Justice Yamashiro, Leeward Community College
- Robert Hatley, Honolulu Community College
- Isaac Guzzo, Honolulu Community College
Each recipient will receive a full scholarship for their remaining college education and part-time employment with Toyota Hawaiʻi as a Technician Apprentice. Upon completion of their Associate Degree in Auto Technology and placement in an Auto Technician position at Toyota Hawaiʻi, recipients will also receive money for tools.
“We are proud to support and invest in the education of our future technicians,” said Gene Murata, senior recruiter at Toyota Hawaiʻi. “After coordinating the T-TEP scholarship program for over 25 years, I am continuously impressed by the talent and skill level of the applicants we receive. We hope these scholarships help set them up for success.”
To qualify for the scholarship, students needed to have completed at least one semester in Auto Technology Associates Degree program and have at least one more semester to complete, along with a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Qualified students completed a Toyota Technician Assessment Examination.
Since its inception in 1991, T-TEP has supported 55 students to graduation. In addition, one former graduate is now an instructor at a University of Hawaiʻi Community College.
