March 14, 2022

Honolulu, HI (March 14, 2022) Subaru Hawai‘i’s inaugural Love in Action campaign has come to a close donating over $50,000 in matching donations to local nonprofits across the State of Hawai‘i. The campaign ran from November 1 through December 31, 2021, and replaced its annual Share the Love Sales Event, allowing Subaru Hawai‘i to focus its efforts on local organizations serving each of the Subaru Love Promises, areas in which the brand is committed to making a difference in: pets, the environment, learning, and caring for, and helping people in need.

This year’s five local beneficiaries selected for Love in Action 2021 were:

“We were incredibly overwhelmed by the support from our community and grateful to see so many people come together, especially during the busy holiday season, to support these nonprofit organizations and the important work they do for Hawai‘i,” said Peter Dames, executive vice president, Subaru Hawai‘i. “The strength and resilience of these nonprofits has been inspiring, and we were more than happy to donate the maximum match amount to each Love in Action nonprofit.”

Love In Action was launched as a weekly video series that encouraged viewers to donate to the organization of their choice. Each episode featured artist Paula Fuga, and one of her best friends as they visited a featured nonprofit to highlight their work. On November 14th, Subaru Hawai‘i waived adoption fees up to $15,000 at Humane Societies statewide. For the four other nonprofit organizations, Subaru Hawai‘i initially announced it would match up to $500 for each individual donation up to a total of $10,000 per organization. In the end, Subaru Hawai‘i donated the full $10,000 to each organization.

I am so grateful that I got to play a role in supporting each of them and that I was able to share their incredible stories.”
