Servco is proud to acknowledge its 2021 Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP) Scholarship winners. This year Servco awarded scholarships to Auto Technology students at Leeward Community College, Honolulu Community College, and for the first time ever Kauai Community College.
“We are excited to expand the T-TEP scholarship program to the Kauai Community College campus for the first time this year and look forward to partnering with their Automotive Program and students moving forward,” said Gene Murata, senior HR recruiter.
This year’s T-TEP Scholarship winners are:
- Victor Agullana: Leeward Community College
- Paul Fuchigami: Honolulu Community College
- Cruz Hillstrom: Kauai Community College
To qualify for the scholarship, students needed to have completed at least one semester in the Auto Technology Associates Degree program and have at least one more semester to complete in addition to their current semester, along with a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Qualified students were then asked to complete a Toyota Technician Assessment Examination and the top scores were moved on to the finals.
“After coordinating the T-TEP scholarship competition for over 25 years, it continues to get harder each year to select our winners. I am impressed by the talent and skill level of the applicants we receive,” said Gene. “The instructors at the campuses play a big role in the students’ development, so we are grateful to work with such valuable mentors and teachers.”
T-TEP winners receive scholarship money to pay for their tuition and books and are employed at Servco Auto Customer Service as a casual part-time Technician Apprentice where they will learn about Toyota products and the latest technical skills used to repair Toyota vehicles. Upon completion of their Associates Degree in Auto Technology and successful placement in an Auto Technician position at Servco, recipients will also receive money for tools.
