HONOLULU – The Hawaii Foodbank received over 21,000 meals from Servco employees this week. The “Spread the Love” Food Drive, which launched on Valentine’s Day, was organized by Servco’s employee-led community service committee called Team Serve.
In total, the company’s employees donated 4,254 lbs. of food and over $7,000 in monetary donations. Servco employees donated an average of 20 meals per employee.
“We knew the recent government shutdown strained Hawaii Foodbank’s resources as they provided an unprecedented amount of food assistance to our community,” said Kaelyn Okuhata, co-chair of Team Serve. “We wanted to help Hawaii Foodbank replenish its supply, and our team members really came through.”
This was the first of many planned community service events for Servco employees as they increase their community service efforts this year to celebrate the company’s 100-year anniversary. Last month, the company launched its Centennial Service Campaign which will invest over $1.5 million into our local communities in 2019 in the form of nonprofit grants and in-kind donations.
