Team Servco Celebrates Champions at 2019 Special Olympics Hawaii Summer Games

May 29, 2019

This past weekend marked the 51st Special Olympics Hawaii Summer Games, where over 1,000 athletes from across the State came together to participate in a weekend of events. To compete in the Summer Games, athletes must meet numerous requirements. Starting with training in February, they must complete a season-long training program then meet their delegation, Area, and State training standards, and participating in a qualifying competition in that sport to advance to the Summer Games.

This year, the Summer Games were held at Iolani School’s track and field, as the U.H. fields were under construction. Over 140 energized Team Serve volunteers came out on Saturday and Sunday to assist with the track and fields award tents. Each athletes hard work and accomplishments were celebrated with an award presented by officers from both the Maui Police Department and Kauai Police Department, as they stood atop a podium in front of their families, friends, and fans.

Mahalo to all the Team Serve volunteers that helped to make this fun-filled weekend a success!
