Scion brand to transition to Toyota

Beginning in August, Scion will begin transitioning back to Toyota. As part of the brand transition, beginning in August 2016, MY17 Scion vehicles will be rebadged as Toyota vehicles. The FR-S sports car, iA sedan and iM 5-door hatchback will join the Toyota family. The tC sports coupe will have a final release series edition and end production in August 2016. The all-new C-HR, which recently debuted at the L.A. Auto Show, will be a part of the Toyota line-up when it’s introduced next year.

The awards recognize current and forthcoming vehicles for their projected retained value throughout the first five years of ownership.

The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) recently announced that all seven Subaru models: the Legacy, Outback, Forester, BRZ,WRX/STI, Impreza and XV Crosstrek have earned IIHS’s “Top Safety Pick Award for 2015.” Subaru is the only manufacturer with IIHS Top Safety pick for all models for six years in a row.

The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) has recognized the all-new 2015 Subaru Legacy and Subaru Outback as a2014 Top Safety Picks. Both vehicles achieved the highest possible rating of ‘good’ in the institute’s crashworthiness evaluations as well as receiving a ‘superior’ rating in the Institute’s front crash avoidance testing.

The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded the 2015 Subaru WRX and WRX STI the IIHS 2014 TOP SAFETY PICK award for good performance in each of the Institute’s crashworthiness evaluations, including the small overlap front test. This is the first time IIHS has rated the WRX and WRX STI, which were both completely redesigned for 2015.

Kelly Blue Book Names Toyota Prius One of “10 Best Green Cars for 2014”

The Toyota Prius, the brand’s first production gas-electric hybrid model, was named one of the “10 Best Green Cars” for 2014 by Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com. KBB.com editors compiled a list of the most efficient vehicles available and then picked 10 standouts featuring a variety of price ranges and power trains. The list also takes into account production methods and recyclability.

Toyota demonstrated its versatility as four diverse vehicles, the 2014 Prius hybrid, 2014 Avalon Full-size sedan, 2014 Highlander mid-size crossover SUV, and 2014 Sienna van were each named “Top Rated Vehicles” by Edmunds.com. Edmunds.com also bestowed top honors on seven Toyota models for being named the 2014 Most Popular on Edmunds.com vehicles in their respective segments.

Toyota Hawaii today announced the Toyota Prius has won top honor from Consumer Reports, which ranked America’s original hybrid as BEST VALUE for a new car, for a second year in a row.  Consumer Reports, a not-for-profit source of information that is neither influenced nor associated with any commercial interest, noted in its report, “…the (Honda) Civic costs more to own in the long run, and it can’t match the Prius’ combination of fuel efficiency, versatility, roominess, and outstanding reliability.”

Subaru Forester Named Motor Trend Magazine’s “2014 SUV of the Year”

Subaru Hawaii today announced that the Subaru Forester was named Motor Trend’s 2014 Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) of the Year. Subaru is the only automaker to win this title three times, and has the most wins in the Sport/Utility category for all manufacturers. In the last six years, Subaru has had three winners – the 2014 Forester, 2010 Outback, and the 2009 Forester.

Toyota Earns Best Brand Award Honors from Kelley Blue Book’s “2014 Best Resale Value Awards”

Kelley Blue Book’s editors awarded Toyota the 2014 Best Brand prize as part of the online publication’s 2014 Best Resale Value Awards. These awards recognize vehicles that show less depreciation during the first five years of ownership, and thus can represent wiser financial choices for consumer purchase. Based on their calculations, on average, a 2014 vehicle will lose 39.7% of its value after five years. The Awards recognize overall brand value and model-year vehicle category winners. Lexus Takes Top Honors for the Third Year in a Row in Kelley Blue Book’s '2014 Best Resale Value Awards' for Luxury Brand

Lexus once again took the top spot in the Luxury Brand category of Kelley Blue Book’s 2014 Best Resale Value Awards, continuing its reign for the third year in a row. In addition to retaining the luxury brand crown, six other Lexus models won their categories, including ES 300h, GX 460 and RX 450h. This is the fourth time since the Best Resale Value: Luxury Brand award was initiated in 2009 that Lexus has won, having earned the honor for the 2010, 2012, and 2013 model years as well.

The magazine names top models in ten categories, including picks for Best in Class and Best New Models. The Subaru Outback was named "Best in Class" in the wagons category. Toyota Earns Three 'Top Scoring Car Awards' in First Annual Total Car Score Rankings

Toyota was named the winner in three automotive categories in the first annual Total Car Score "Top Scoring Car Awards" rankings. The Toyota Camry, earned a Top Scoring Car award in the 2012 Midsize Sedan/Wagon segment. The Avalon received Top Scoring Car honors in the 2012 Large Sedan/Wagon category. The Tundra pickup captured an award in the 2012 Large Truck segment.

The awards are based on a ranking formula created by Total Car Score, an automotive ranking and comparison website, which offers a comprehensive evaluation of 2012 model year vehicles in various segments.

 

Lexus Ranks Highest of Any Luxury Brand in 2012 J.D. Power and Associates CSI Study

Lexus ranked highest in customer satisfaction among luxury brands in the J.D. Power and Associates 2012 Customer Service Index (CSI) Study for the fourth consecutive year. Lexus achieved an overall CSI score of 861 on a 1,000-point scale, 15 points above the segment average and the highest numerical score in the study, regardless of segment. The 2012 CSI Study is based on responses from owners and lessees of 2007 to 2011 model-year vehicles.

 

Toyota, Lexus & Scion Dominates JD Power & Associates 2012 Study

Toyota, and Scion models captured segment awards in the 2012 J.D. Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability Study, a performance equal to all other vehicle brands combined and more than twice as many as the runner-up nameplate. The study also found: Lexus is the number one nameplate; Toyota is the highest ranked non-premium nameplate and tied for third place overall.
