Subaru Hawaii Shares the Love with Six Local Nonprofits

Subaru Hawaii dealers donated $30,000 to six local nonprofits as part of its Share the Love sales campaign. Now in its sixth year, the campaign ran from November 1 st through December 31 st . During the annual sales event, Subaru Hawaii gives $250 for every new car sold up to $30,000, and the total is divided evenly between six nonprofits in Subaru's focus areas of learning, animals, and the environment. This year’s beneficiaries included Friends of the Library of Hawaii, Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii, Hawaii Island Humane Society, Hawaiian Humane Society, Maui Humane Society and Kauai Humane Society.

Toyota Hawaii Goes Green at the 2017 Sony Open

For the 12 th year in a row, Toyota Hawaii was on the roads and the green of the Waialae Country Club as the exclusive Automobile Sponsor of the Sony Open in Hawaii. Toyota Hawaii provided 60 vehicles to shuttle pro golfers around the island, and displayed the 2017 Prius, Rav4 Hybrid, Avalon Hybrid, Camry Hybrid, and Mirai FCV at the front of the Spectators' Village—in alignment with the tournament’s sustainability initiative. This eco-friendly atmosphere continued inside the Toyota Hawaii hospitality booth, where spectators could charge their phones and enjoy the shade while relaxing on furniture made completely from 100% recyclable materials. The event was a perfect fit for Toyota, which recently announced its goal to reduce vehicle CO₂ emissions by 90 percent in comparison with 2010 levels, by 2050.

Servco Pacific Insurance Gives Back to the Seattle Community with Vision House

Servco Pacific Insurance (SPI) Seattle teamed up with Vision House for its annual Giving Tree Project, to deliver $1,280 in donations from 49 employees, to the Seattle-based nonprofit agency that provides housing, support services and child care for homeless families with children. Since its founding in 1990, Vision House has assisted more than1,000 people in achieving financial stability, increasing employability, and mastering life skills.

Servco Donates 500 Gifts to the PACT Giving Tree

Since 2008, Servco has partnered with Parents and Children Together (PACT) for their annual Giving Tree program, to make a difference for Hawaii’s children during the holidays. Gifts were hand-picked and wrapped by Servco employees, based on the wish list of a child, from infants to 17-years old. This year Servco gave its largest donation, with over 500 presents collected and given to PACT—a family service agency that has been helping to provide children with peaceful and safe environments in which to grow since 1968.

Servco Celebrates 2016 Toyota Technical Education Scholarship Winners

Toyota Hawaii today announced the winners of its annual Toyota Technical Education Scholarship. A partnership with Honolulu Community College’s Automotive Technology Program, students Isaiah Foo-Mitsunaga, Jeffrey Bryan Reyes, David Alvarado Jr., and Dansen Carvalho Jr. were this year’s winners, and will receive a monetary award to help with their college tuition, as well as an opportunity to become an employee at Servco. To qualify for the scholarship, applicants needed a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, and be at least a second semester student in HCC’s Automotive Technology Associate of Science Degree Program. The scholarship program has been providing opportunities for HCC’s students for the past 25 years.

Toyota Hawaii Encourages Youth of Palama Settlement to Dream Big

Toyota Hawaii donated 100 UH Athletics tickets and art supplies to keiki in Palama Settlement’s Pakolea Youth Sports Program. Through Pakolea, children are encouraged to participate in recreational sports to improve academic progress and behavioral change in school and at home. The athletics tickets can be used for free admission to 2016-2017 UH sporting events, and the art supplies were given to inspire Palama Settlement’s youth to imagine and enter their “dream car” drawings for the Toyota Dream Car Art Contest.

Servco Pacific Insurance’s (SPI) Seattle office has relocated to 800 Fifth Avenue, Suite 2400, Seattle, WA 98104. Just six years ago, SPI expanded to Seattle, Washington with a primary focus on marine-related businesses. Since then, the firm was named one of the Pacific Northwest’s 100 Fastest Growing Privately-held Companies by the Puget Sound Business Journal. The new Downtown Seattle location will offer more space to accommodate growth and provide greater ease to reach clients.

Toyota Hawaii and MADD Honor Police Officers at Annual Law Enforcement Awards

As the holiday season approaches, Toyota Hawaii and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Hawaii honored members of the Hawaii Police Department at its annual Law Enforcement Awards. The awards ceremonies held on Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island, acknowledged the efforts and dedication of police officers to stop impaired driving, and supported the victims of this violent crime. Officers were selected by each county’s Chief of Police, who in their opinion, have made an impact in reducing alcohol or drug-related fatalities.

Subaru Hawaii Shares the Love at Santa Paws with the Hawaiian Humane Society

Subaru Hawaii’s Pet Adoption Day took on a Holiday twist at the Hawaiian Humane Society’s Santa Paws event. Pets and their owners lined up to take festive pics with Santa and Mrs. Claus, as part of Subaru Hawaii’s Share the Love campaign. All adoption fees were waived and gift baskets were presented to each family who adopted an animal. 24 dogs, 10 cats and 2 bunnies were adopted on Oahu, with an additional 33 adoptions at the event on Maui.

Team Serve, Subaru Hawaii, and the Servco Foundation joined the Hawaiian Humane Society for their 26th Annual PetWalk held at Magic Island on Oahu. Thousands of pets and people came together for one common goal—to raise money to benefit our furry friends. Even Subaru Hawaii Ambassador Carissa Moore was there to support the cause with her own dog Tuffy! The Hawaiian Humane Society is one of Subaru Hawaii’s nonprofit partners for this year’s Share the Love sales event.

Hawaii student artists ages 15 years and under are encouraged to compete by submitting their hand-drawn entries based on this year’s theme “Your Dream Car” by January 13, 2017. The Hawaiian Food Bank teamed up with the American Institute of Architects Honolulu and Subaru Hawaii for the 11th Annual Canstruction® competition, that raised 22,725 pounds of food for local families in need. This year’s theme, “Galacti-CAN-Goods!” was showcased in full force, as towering astronauts, aliens, and even Star Wars spaceships, were assembled at Pearlridge Center. Subaru Hawaii Sponsored the Kids Can Corner, where hundreds of keiki created their own Canstruction® Rocket.

Servco Celebrates Its 90th Anniversary with Chevrolet

Today, Servco celebrates its 90th Anniversary as a GM dealer in Hawaii. The company is the oldest continuously operating Chevrolet franchise West of the Rockies, and oldest GM dealer in Hawaii. The company’s founder, Peter Fukunaga obtained the first franchise from the classic American automobile brand in 1926.

For the eighth year in a row, Servco employees participated in an internal school supply drive to fill hundreds of new backpacks to donate to every first-grader at five selected elementary schools. This year, Servco donated backpacks full of school supplies to Lanakila, Kalihi-Kai, Hauula, Kahuku, and Haleiwa elementary school. The backpack drive was initiated by Servco’s community service committee, Team Serve.

Subaru Hawaii Pet Adoption Brings in Record Number of Adoptions

Subaru Hawaii’s 2016 Share the Love Campaign joined forces with Humane Societies state-wide for the Subaru Hawaii Pet Adoption Day on Oahu, Hawaii Island, Kauai and Maui. Adoptions this year doubled from past events thanks to waived adoption fees from Subaru Hawaii. There were a total of 61 adoptions this year statewide. Every family who adopted an animal also received a $25 Hawaiian Humane Society gift certificate plus a pet starter kit from Subaru Hawaii.

Over 1,000 athletes and coaches participated in the 2016 Special Olympics of Hawaii Summer Games at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Team Servco volunteers joined over 700 others, including athletes from the University of Hawaii Football and Track & Field teams, who worked enthusiastically behind the scenes to put on the three-day event. Team Servco volunteers ran the awards tent and podium for both track and field events.

Rick Ching promoted to president of Servco

Patrick “Rick” D. Ching is promoted to Servco’s president effective today. Ching is currently the executive vice president and chief operating officer (COO) of Servco and president of Servco Automotive Hawaii. He will also keep his title as COO. Ching succeeds Eric Fukunaga, who retired as president on March 31, 2016. Fukunaga will continue in an advisory role as vice chairman of Servco’s board.

Beginning in August, Scion will begin transitioning back to Toyota. As part of the brand transition, beginning in August 2016, MY17 Scion vehicles will be rebadged as Toyota vehicles. The FR-S sports car, iA sedan and iM 5-door hatchback will join the Toyota family. The tC sports coupe will have a final release series edition and end production in August 2016. The all-new C-HR, which recently debuted at the L.A. Auto Show, will be a part of the Toyota line-up when it’s introduced next year.

Governor David Ige has only driven twice since he became the Governor of Hawaii and both times he drove the Toyota Mirai Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicle (FCV) – Toyota’s first zero emission production vehicle that boasts a 312-mile range and a 5-minute refueling time. Hawaii is the second state after California to receive the Mirai, Toyota’s first hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicle (FCV).

The Fukunaga Scholarship Foundation announced 12 recipients of its prestigious Fukunaga Scholarship. Every year, over $150,000 in undergraduate scholarships is awarded to encourage students in the State of Hawaii to pursue a degree in business. The office has come a long way from just nine employees to 32 employees today. Since expanding to Seattle, SPI also opened additional offices in Tacoma, Washington and Newport, Oregon.

Servco completed the sale of Servco Raynor Overhead Doors, Inc. assets to Raynor Hawaii Overhead Doors Inc. on August 1, 2015. Raynor owners Peter Eldridge and Mike Markley previously owned Raynor Pacific Overhead Doors until it was purchased by Servco in 2005., Raynor Hawaii Overhead Doors will be the authorized Raynor dealer for the Hawaiian Islands. The transaction includes Servco’s overhead doors, automated gates and fencing operations and the transfer of 20 employees.

Over the past two months, Servco Pacific employees have been collecting hundreds of new backpacks and filling them with crayons, markers, binders, pencil boxes, glue, composition books and more. The backpacks are being delivered to five Oahu elementary schools: Kuhio, Wahiawa, Kaimiloa, Fern and Keolu. This year marks the seventh anniversary of the Servco-employee school-supply drive. Different schools receive backpacks each year.

Servco Auto Centers have been voted the Best Auto Dealerships in Hawaii for the fifth year in a row by the readers of the Honolulu Star Advertiser. Two Team Servco members, Paul Robotti and Raymond Ma, were also recognized as Hawaii’s Top Automotive Salespeople. Servco Raynor Overhead Doors was once again recognized as one of the top three in the Best Garage Door group category.

Servco was acknowledged for four out of the nine 2014 Spirit of Community Awards at the annual Aloha United Way (AUW) luncheon in April. The awards Servco won were the Eco-Friendly Award, Community Champion Award, Leaders in Giving Award, and the Most Significant Increase in Participation by a Large Company. In 2014, Servco employees Rod Saunders, Jason Alfiler, Ralph Sing Chow and Cynthia Torres co-chaired Team Servco’s internal campaign which encouraged employees to donate to AUW.

For the 11th year in a row, Servco was recognized as one of Hawaii’s Best Places to Work. With over 1,000 employees in Hawaii and 1,600 worldwide, Servco was commended for putting a high priority on sharing financial planning and retirement resources in recognition that its workforce is composed primarily of Baby Boomers. Servco was also recognized for its wellness initiative which included ShapeUp, an online program that monitors and challenges workers to stay healthy through friendly competition and accountability.

People’s Choice Voting Now Open for Toyota Hawaii’s 2015 Dream Car Art Contest

Toyota Hawaii announced that the People’s Choice voting will begin on February 23 via Facebook for Toyota Hawaii’s 2015 Dream Car Art Contest. Student artists 15 years old and under created original, hand-drawn illustrations of their “Dream Car.” Fans of the Toyota Hawaii Facebook page will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite entries until March 15, 2015. The artwork with the most votes in each age category at the end of the competition will be entered for final judging in the local competition.

In addition, six Lexus models made KBB.com’s Top 10 Best Resale Value vehicles list. The awards recognize current and forthcoming vehicles for their projected retained value throughout the first five years of ownership.

Subaru Hawaii Presents $35,000 to Six Hawaii-Based Non Profits

Across the state, the Subaru Hawaii Dealers “Share the Love” sales event donated $35,000 total to six nonprofits:  Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii, Hawaiian Humane Society, Maui Humane Society, Kauai Humane Society, Hawaii Wildlife Fund and Hawaii Island Humane Society. The campaign donated $250 for every new vehicle sold by Subaru Hawaii dealers from November 1 to December 31, 2014, up to $30,000. In addition, the public voted for their favorite participating nonprofit organization on Subaru Hawaii’s Facebook page crowning Maui Humane Society as the winner earning them an additional $5,000.

Servco Lexus and Servco Subaru auto dealerships will be opening at the Maui Business Park's second phase in Kahului following the company purchase of a four-acre site at the park for $8.2 million. Construction on the dealerships is expected to start in 2016 and be completed in 2017.

75 Employees Serve Holiday Meals at the Family Programs Holiday Party

On December 7, 2014, over 75 employees, family and friends gathered at the Neal Blaisdell Center in Honolulu for the Family Programs Holiday Party for foster families. Servco had the task of assisting to plate over 2,400 meals for foster families across the state. A fun time was had by all!

All Subaru Models Receive IIHS Top Safety Pick for 2015

The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) recently announced that all seven Subaru models: the Legacy, Outback, Forester, BRZ,WRX/STI, Impreza and XV Crosstrek have earned IIHS’s “Top Safety Pick Award for 2015.” Subaru is the only manufacturer with IIHS Top Safety pick for all models for six years in a row.

Hawaii finalists will receive an iPad Mini® or cash prize, and will be submitted to the World Competition, where they could be selected to receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Japan to attend the final awards ceremony in the summer of 2015.

Servco Breaks Ground on New Kauai Dealership

Servco recently broke ground on construction of a new dealership located on the island of Kauai to be named Servco Auto Kauai. The dealership, currently named Servco Toyota Kauai, sell both Toyota and Subaru vehicles. In 2015, it will move to its new, 12,000-square-foot location with 10 service bays, a car wash and more than 200 parking spaces. The new Servco Auto Kauai dealership will be located in an upcoming retail area in Lihue that includes Costco, Home Depot, and a new Safeway also under construction.

Servco Chevrolet Donates Funds, Equipment to the Hawaii Rush Soccer Club

Toyota Hawaii today announced the Toyota Prius has won top honor from Consumer Reports, which ranked America’s original hybrid as BEST VALUE for a new car, for a second year in a row.  Consumer Reports, a not-for-profit source of information that is neither influenced nor associated with any commercial interest, noted in its report, “…the (Honda) Civic costs more to own in the long run, and it can’t match the Prius’ combination of fuel efficiency, versatility, roominess, and outstanding reliability.”

MADD Hawaii and Toyota Hawaii Honor Maui, Kauai and Big Island Police Officers

These awards recognize vehicles that show less depreciation during the first five years of ownership, and thus can represent wiser financial choices for consumer purchase. Based on their calculations, on average, a 2014 vehicle will lose 39.7% of its value after five years. The Awards recognize overall brand value and model-year vehicle category winners. Lexus Takes Top Honors for the Third Year in a Row in Kelley Blue Book’s '2014 Best Resale Value Awards' for Luxury Brand

Lexus once again took the top spot in the Luxury Brand category of Kelley Blue Book’s 2014 Best Resale Value Awards, continuing its reign for the third year in a row. In addition to retaining the luxury brand crown, six other Lexus models won their categories, including ES 300h, GX 460 and RX 450h. This is the fourth time since the Best Resale Value: Luxury Brand award was initiated in 2009 that Lexus has won, having earned the honor for the 2010, 2012, and 2013 model years as well.

Team Servco Participates in “International Coastal Clean Up Day”

It was “International Coastal Clean Up Day” and over 40 Team Servco volunteers showed up at Oahu’s Keehi Lagoon and picked up a total of 52 bags of trash weighing an estimated 800 pounds including cigarette butts (779), food wrappers (658) and plastic bottle caps (377).
