Last month, all our Servco automotive dealerships were presented with Driving Excellence Awards from Krex Inc. The award recognized dealerships that excelled in four key success metrics related to DriveSure: Registration Fulfillment, Customer Renewals, Email Collection Rate, and Responsiveness to Expiration Notifications. Servco Auto was one of 36 dealer groups (out of 500 total) who received this award.

Subaru Hawaii Achieves Record Sales Year for 2017

2017 was a record sales year for Subaru Hawaii with a total of 2,389-unit sales. The top selling Subaru was once again the Forester with 643 units. The Crosstrek took second with 455 units, followed by the Outback with 303 units. Mahalo to the cooperative effort between Servco Subaru Honolulu service department, car carrier service and fleet customer, Enterprise, for allowing them to deliver 143 Impreza’s and 90 Forester’s in the month.

Servco Pacific Inc. held a groundbreaking ceremony for Oahu’s first publicly accessible hydrogen station. Once completed, the station will create its own hydrogen on site by electrolyzing water. The hydrogen station will initially be used by owners of the Toyota Mirai fuel cell vehicle, which will go on limited sale once the station is complete.

Michael Regan was announced as Servco’s executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer today. Prior to Servco, Regan served as a member of the board of directors of Rite Aid Corporation and their audit committee since 2007, and its lead independent director since 2011. He has also served as the CFO for Indianapolis Downs LLC, CFO for The St. Joe Company, vice president corporate controller for Harrah’s Entertainment, and most recently Outrigger Enterprise Group, where he oversaw the company’s finance function as its executive vice president and chief financial officer. Regan will lead Servco’s global finance function, including the accounting, tax, treasury, and internal audit areas. He will be located at Servco’s corporate offices in Mapunapuna.

Servco Pacific Inc. held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new Servco Lexus Maui and Servco Subaru Maui dealership at the Kahului Business Park. Once the facility is completed, the 22,000 square-foot joint dealership will feature dedicated showrooms for both Lexus and Subaru, with increased floor area for vehicle displays and sales. The expanded facilities will also include a shared service area, housing nine lifts plus one alignment bay. The new dealership is expected to be completed by the end of summer 2018.

Servco Australia, the Australian automotive subsidiary of Servco Pacific Inc., has purchased four dealerships from Jefferson Automotive Group in Melbourne: Melbourne City Toyota, Melbourne City Lexus, South Melbourne Toyota, and South Melbourne Kia. The transaction brings the total dealership count for Servco in Australia to 16. Servco has been acquiring dealerships in Australia since December 2007, when the company purchased Downtown Toyota in Brisbane. The dealerships will complement the existing Camberwell Toyota dealership which is in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

Peter Hirano is Servco’s senior vice president of Human Resources effective today. Hirano has 30 years of human resources management experience including leadership positions at HighRoads, Convergys Corp, KPMG Consulting, Aon Hewitt, and most recent, Randstad Sourceright, where he served as senior vice president of Client Services before joining Servco. Hirano will lead Servco’s human resources function, including recruiting, talent development, employee benefits, compensation, labor and employee relations, employer branding, and human resource technology. His office will be located at Servco’s corporate offices in Mapunapuna.

Servco Auto Kauai Grand Opening in Lihue

Servco Auto Kauai (SAK) celebrated the grand opening of its new dealership located at 2477 Ulu Maika St. The 160,000 square-foot location is three times larger than the old dealership, and represents the company’s Toyota and Subaru brands. Other features of the new facility include proper service lanes for check in, additional customer parking for both Sales and Parts & Service departments, and a car wash/detail/alignment rack expected to be completed by the end of the year. At the grand opening ceremony, SAK presented 200 backpacks, pens, and a monetary donation of $2,500 to Kumu’s Cupboard, a local nonprofit that provides free school supplies to teachers and educational staff.

Servco Pacific Insurance’s (SPI) Seattle office has relocated to 800 Fifth Avenue, Suite 2400, Seattle, WA 98104. Just six years ago, SPI expanded to Seattle, Washington with a primary focus on marine-related businesses. Since then, the firm was named one of the Pacific Northwest’s 100 Fastest Growing Privately-held Companies by the Puget Sound Business Journal. The new Downtown Seattle location will offer more space to accommodate growth and provide greater ease to reach clients.

Today, Servco celebrates its 90th Anniversary as a GM dealer in Hawaii. The company is the oldest continuously operating Chevrolet franchise West of the Rockies, and oldest GM dealer in Hawaii. The company’s founder, Peter Fukunaga obtained the first franchise from the classic American automobile brand in 1926.

Patrick “Rick” D. Ching is promoted to Servco’s president effective today. Ching is currently the executive vice president and chief operating officer (COO) of Servco and president of Servco Automotive Hawaii. He will also keep his title as COO. Ching succeeds Eric Fukunaga, who retired as president on March 31, 2016. Fukunaga will continue in an advisory role as vice chairman of Servco’s board.

Servco completed the sale of Servco Raynor Overhead Doors, Inc. assets to Raynor Hawaii Overhead Doors Inc. on August 1, 2015. Raynor owners Peter Eldridge and Mike Markley previously owned Raynor Pacific Overhead Doors until it was purchased by Servco in 2005., Raynor Hawaii Overhead Doors will be the authorized Raynor dealer for the Hawaiian Islands. The transaction includes Servco’s overhead doors, automated gates and fencing operations and the transfer of 20 employees.

With over 1,000 employees in Hawaii and 1,600 worldwide, Servco was commended for putting a high priority on sharing financial planning and retirement resources in recognition that its workforce is composed primarily of Baby Boomers. Servco was also recognized for its wellness initiative which included ShapeUp, an online program that monitors and challenges workers to stay healthy through friendly competition and accountability.

Servco was proud to offer three scholarships to three very deserving students studying in Honolulu Community College’s Automotive Technology Program. IRIS HUI, BRYAN CALUYA, and JONNAH RAE QUIACURSAN were this year’s recipients. Applicants needed a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, enrolled full time in the Program and completed at least one semester in the program. Congratulations Scholarship Winners!

Servco Lexus and Servco Subaru auto dealerships will be opening at the Maui Business Park's second phase in Kahului following the company purchase of a four-acre site at the park for $8.2 million. Construction on the dealerships is expected to start in 2016 and be completed in 2017.

Servco announced it is selling its Servco Raynor Overhead Doors, Inc. division to Peter Eldridge and Mike Markley. Eldridge and Markley were the former owners of Raynor Pacific Overhead Doors before it was acquired by Servco in 2005. The sale is expected to be finalized in early 2015.

Servco Breaks Ground on New Kauai Dealership

Servco recently broke ground on construction of a new dealership located on the island of Kauai to be named Servco Auto Kauai. The dealership, currently named Servco Toyota Kauai, sell both Toyota and Subaru vehicles. In 2015, it will move to its new, 12,000-square-foot location with 10 service bays, a car wash and more than 200 parking spaces. The new Servco Auto Kauai dealership will be located in an upcoming retail area in Lihue that includes Costco, Home Depot, and a new Safeway also under construction.

Toyota Hawaii Announces Finalists for 2013 Dream Car Art Contest

Toyota Hawaii today held awards presentations at Servco Auto Honolulu and Maui Toyota in Kahului to recognize the local finalists and People’s Choice winners in Toyota’s 2013 Dream Car Art Contest. Among the 600 entries received, only nine (three from each age category) were selected to participate in the World Contest where winners will be awarded an all-expenses-paid trip to Japan for the awards ceremony in August 2013.
